Since Xux made available the spelling and grammar checker in Basque 5, Microsoft has launched new Microsoft Office packages, with new features in the Euskaltzaindia Dictionary and Elhuyar dictionaries. For all this, we have published in Xuxe 5.1.

Xuxen 5.1 is free and available on xuxen.eus With the latest language criteria, Xuxen 5.1 is ready for the latest versions of Word.

The new corrector takes into account the latest modifications of the Euskaltzaindia Dictionary and Elhuyar dictionaries to make corrections and proposals, and can also be used with the latest computer programs.

The version we have prepared for Word 2016, like the previous ones, highlights in red the spelling errors and in green/blue the grammatical errors and words that do not match the preferences of Euskaltzaindia.

The best known version of Xuxen is Word, but we can use the renewed version of Xuxen with other programs, since we have updated all the versions and prepared them for free download (xuxen.eus/download):

• Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• LibreOffice, OpenOffice
• Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer web browsers
• Adobe InDesign
• Hunspell

You can also use Xuxen, like Worden, by writing to emails, Internet forums, and blogs. Just download the version for the web browser you use (Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer).

In addition, Xuxen has a free version based on Hunspell and is available to users to incorporate it into other applications. This has been done, for example, by Tokikom, which unifies the Basque word fragmenter for Adobe InDesign CS6 and the renewed version of Xuxen. More information: tokikom.eus/xuxen.

Both installed on our computer and online we can use Xuxen 5.1, since in the box of xuxen.eus we can enter the text to correct and ask the system to detect errors and propose corrections.

Xuxen 5.1 is the result of the collaboration of Elhuyar and the research group Ixa of the UPV. For more than two decades, Elhuyar and Ixa have been working together to advance Basque in the digital world and provide useful resources for Basque society. The result of this collaboration is, in addition to Xuxen, the automatic translator Matxin (http://matxin.elhuyar.eus/).
