The Elhuyar Dictionary remains an inescapable reference, as shown by the large number of consultations it received in 2024: 65 million. The website receives almost 100,000 visitors a week.

The content of the Elhuyar Dictionary is continuously updated; it is a living project, which has had several lines of work underway in 2024: “writing game” has been launched, new entries have been added to the dictionary and modified others, and the necessary changes have been introduced to ensure an egalitarian language.

In 2024, Elhuyar launched a writing game on the website of the Elhuyar Dictionary, designed so that those who check the dictionary can review and improve their writing in Basque. Quickly and simply, five new questions can be answered every day. In this digital age in which we have all become writers, there is more concern about the linguistic level. Therefore, the goal of the game is to learn how to identify the right options in the most doubtful cases, in order to improve our writing. Since it was online, it has been accessed an average of 650 times a day.

The dictionary is a resource in constant updating; in 2024, for example, about 2,300 changes have been made. On the one hand, 415 new entries have been added and, on the other hand, various adaptations have been made in the remaining 1,885 cases:

In addition to these updates, the Elhuyar Dictionary aims to use an egalitarian language; to this end, in 2024, the gender perspective has been taken into account in all the updates, and the discriminatory use of the lexicon and language has been revised and appropriate, to obtain a step-by-step dictionary free of discriminatory treatments.

To make all these changes, the Elhuyar Dictionary uses various sources: different corpus, content extracted from other resources, the Euskaltzaindia dictionary and the comments and proposals of the users.

In addition to the continuous updating of the contents, in 2024 the Elhuyar Dictionary has also advanced in the technological aspect.
