This morning the 29th season of the Teknopolis Science, Technology and Innovation Programme was presented at the Central Library, Centro Carlos Santamaría, of the EHU’s Gipuzkoa Campus in Donostia, with the participation of Amaia Esquisabel Alegria, Director of Scientific Policy of the Basque Government, Agustín Ezenarro Zumeta, head of the ETB Programmes Area, Edurne Gaston Estanga, coordinator of the Elhuyar Science Unit, and several representatives of the sponsoring institutions. This new season will kick off this weekend and will air on Saturdays at 13:30 on ETB1 and on Sundays at 12:15 on ETB2.

One more season, Teknopolis, in collaboration with specialists from many areas of the Basque Country, will bring topics and places of interest to the public, focusing on issues that arouse the curiosity of society. In this new season, health-related issues will take on special importance, and in addition to testimonies from patients living with the disease, scientific content related to medicine and research will be offered, such as: innovative transplantation techniques, cutting-edge cancer treatments, trends in diet... Technology will continue to be present and the first program of the season will bring us closer to the next generation robotics and the Basque aeronautical industry. In addition, it will show the consequences of climate change and the impact that rising sea levels will have on the Basque coast, and will also analyze the metabolism of our cities.

In this new season, which begins on September 26, the presentation of the program will continue in charge of Iñaki Leturia Yurrita, and Alaitz Ochoa of Eribe Agirre will take care of the direction.

Elhuyar is the producer of Teknopolis, a program focused on science, technology and innovation. Both Elhuyar and Teknopolis are two of the great references of science and technology in the Basque Country. Elhuyar’s main goal from the start has been to build a community, something that is also pursued by the Teknopolis program. In addition to being the showcase of science that is made in the Basque Country, it works on the promotion of critical thinking among citizens. For this, it has the support of an entire community: sponsors, research and outreach staff, as well as a citizen interested in scientific issues.

Likewise, it is necessary to highlight the long collaboration between Elhuyar and EITB Media, as well as that of all the sponsoring and collaborating entities: Basque Government, University of the Basque Country (EHU), Mondragon University, Tknika Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Vocational Training and BRTA, the Basque alliance for R&D.
