This morning, the digital media Elhuyar Zientzia was presented at the headquarters of Elhuyar in Usurbil. Garazi Andonegi Beristain, coordinator of the Elhuyar Science Unit and Aitziber Agirre Ruiz de Arkaute, head of Scientific Culture of Elhuyar, have presented this digital medium in Basque dedicated to diverse scientific and technological content.

In view of the fact that the dialogue between science and society is capable of changing the world and that we live in an information society, Elhuyar has created the digital medium Elhuyar Zientzia. The need for continuous adaptation has led us to merge the sites zientzia.eus and aldizkaria.elhuyar.eus, so that this new digital medium can offer up-to-date content, as well as different views for a critical society. The medium has been created in Euskera, with local voices and views and with its own technology, and collects contents from all over the world.

The digital medium Elhuyar Zientzia offers scientific and technological themes in different formats, with more than 25,000 contents: news and scientific curiosities in short videos; podcasts on the environment, feminism and science; interviews; critical look and opinions of Basque research staff; photographs of wildlife; spaces of citizen opinion; ephemerides of women scientists... In addition to all this, it will highlight the current social concerns and crises: mental health, eco-social transition, environment, values...

This digital medium features the most advanced technologies developed in Elhuyar: automatic translation to six languages (Basque, Spanish, English, French, Catalan and Galician), automatic voices for listening to text, automatic content proposals, advanced search

Sections of the digital media

Elhuyar Zientzia has a dynamic and functional design, which stands out on the front page with the visibility of the contents.
In their channels, users will find news, interviews, opinions, photographs, podcasts, videos and reports. The opinion section stands out, in which the critical and strategic view of various scientific and technological teams of reference on issues of social interest will be shown.
Special sections include weekly surveys, which will seek the opinion of society in the face of advances in science, as well as various content related to education (news, comics, leaflets and videos), ephemerides and a decalogue to facilitate the dissemination of environmental information. Also noteworthy is the Gai librean section, which offers the user the opportunity to become a discoverer. Whoever wishes to submit their content and the editors will value it before it is published. Elhuyar Zientzia will also include the digital version of Elhuyar magazine, as well as a section for fans of the Teknopolis programme.

Elhuyar Journal

From now on, we will be able to continue reading in detail the contents of the digital medium Elhuyar Zientzia through the journal Elhuyar, which will give us the possibility to enjoy at another rhythm of interesting and complex issues, in-depth interviews and scientific and technological advances that are published in the digital medium. In the future, four issues will continue to be published each year, which the subscriber will be able to receive at home.
