Elhuyar has launched six new word games designed to perfect the Basque language playing. Playing with words allows us to enrich the vocabulary and obtain additional information of interest about each word. The games have been added to the website of the Elhuyar Dictionary and, starting today, whoever wishes will have the opportunity to perfect their Basque language in a fun and entertaining way. The games are aimed at all kinds of people: those who work in Basque in their day to day, students, teachers and professionals, people who are learning Basque or who simply like to play with words.

These are the new games: Word string, Anagram, The hangman, Connect words, Guess the word and Delete the word. Each game offers the possibility to play for free or in competition mode. In some of the games, you can also choose between two versions, one simple and another of greater difficulty. All the words to be guessed are listed in the Elhuyar Dictionary. In addition, whoever wishes to do so can register and participate in a classification to compete with other people. There will also be an option called "Today's game", in which each day one of the six games will be available and all participants will be able to play in the same conditions to get the best possible result.

Elhuyar launched its first word game in 2024 and, in view of its success, has decided to launch new ones to offer more opportunities to learn by playing and to enrich the vocabulary.

The new word games will be available on the website of the Elhuyar Dictionary (https://hiztegiak.elhuyar.eus/jolasa), as well as in its mobile application. In this way, those who access the page will be able to play with the words at any time and from anywhere.

An opportunity to combine entertainment and learning

All the words used in the games are collected in the Elhuyar Dictionary, and you can consult the entries of the dictionary at any time to know the meaning of the words, their uses and other complementary information. In this way, entertainment is combined with learning, and it offers the opportunity to solve doubts and know new words that arise during the game.

This project is the result of Elhuyar's commitment to society and the use of a quality Basque language.
