The cycle of colloquiums "Emakume zientzialarien argitan" (In the light of women scientists) is jointly organized by Elhuyar and Donostia Kcultura, and this year it will offer us three sessions between October and December, specifically on October 6, November 3 and December 1. The talks will be at 19:00 in the auditorium of the house of culture Ernest Lluch.

Through face-to-face interviews conducted by Ana Galarraga Aiestaran, scientific popularizer of Elhuyar, we will have the opportunity to meet these three scientists: Miren Berasategi Zeberio, Garbiñe Elizegi Narbarte and Estitxu Villamor Lomas.

The objective of the project is to meet female scientists, because in the history of science and technology the contributions of women have been relegated and hidden, and even today their discrimination is still evident in this area.

Autumn cycle of colloquiums 2026

The first session will take place on October 6, with a talk given by Miren Berasategi Zeberio under the title “Adimen artifiziala auzitan” (Artificial intelligence on trial).

Miren Berasategi Zeberio (Donostia, 1982) has a degree in Humanities and Communication and a PhD in Communication. She is a professor of degrees in the field of Communication and a researcher at the University of Deusto, where she addresses fields such as digital communication, data analysis and communication and communication theory. He is also a member of the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal InpAkta, Social Impact Studies Act, and is part of the UEU steering group.

Garbiñe Elizegi Narbarte will be the protagonist of the second gathering, which will be held on November 3 under the title “Emakume eta genero ez-normatibo euskaldunak osasungintzan” (Basque women and non-normative genders in healthcare).

Garbiñe Elizegi Narbarte (Pomona, California-USA, 1975) is a doctor of nursing. She currently resides in Lekaroz and works as a nurse at the Lesaka health centre. Her activity focuses, in addition to research, on feminism and the defense of the land as a member and activist of the popular movements.

The third participant will be Estitxu Villamor Lomas, PhD in Physics, who will participate on December 1 with a talk entitled “Trantsizio energetikoaz hausnartzen” (Reflecting on the energy transition).

Estitxu Villamor Lomas (Gasteiz, 1987) has been an EHU professor since 2016 and an EKOPOL researcher since 2018. His lines of research are the calculation of the potential of renewable energies through geographic information systems, the calculation of local and regional energy footprints and the energy transition at the municipal level. He has also been participating in collectives that work in defense of the land and in favor of another energy model for several years.

The three sessions will be held in Basque in the auditorium of the house of culture Ernest Lluch at 19:00.
