Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka

This year's edition of Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka has been extended for four days, from May 6 to 9, and has taken place in the Arenal de Bilbao. It has showcased 183 projects and involved 660 young people from 60 schools. In addition to young people from the educational centers of the Basque Country, winners of other fairs both in Spain and abroad have also participated: in total, 9 teams have attended Bilbao.

The objective of Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka is to offer young people experiences related to science, as well as to promote and disseminate scientific culture, not only in this fair that is held in the Arenal, but also throughout the year. In addition to young students, research centres and universities from the Basque Country also participate in the fair. It is also necessary to highlight the commitment of all of them to this project, a commitment that they renew year after year: thus, at the beginning of the school year, 80 researchers (48 women) from universities and technology centers offered to work with the students throughout the course, and during the course of the fair they have carried out evaluation tasks.

The Zientzia Azoka initiative, organized by Elhuyar, has the collaboration of the Department of Education, Universities and Research of the Basque Government, the FECYT (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology), the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the City Council of Bilbao, the Government of Navarre and Erabi.
