The deadline for registration at Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka is now open. Those interested in participating in the fair must register on the website.
The 2026 edition will take place from 6 to 9 May in the Arenal de Bilbao. For four days, ESO and Baccalaureate youth will present the science and technology projects they will develop during the course. Young people from ESO and Bachillerato can participate in all educational centers in the Basque Country. Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka is a fair to publicize science and technology projects and promote the use of the Basque Country
Students will work as a group on the topics they choose themselves, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Health and Well-being, Responsible Production and Consumption, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and, finally, Climate Action. They will reflect on global challenges and propose solutions based on their closest environment. This approach will allow students not only to delve into curricular content, but also to become aware of their responsibility in the construction of a more just and sustainable future.
The help of research staff, a fundamental pillar As
each year, students will be able to count on the help of professionals for the development of their projects, since more than 200 researchers and researchers from the Basque Science and Technology Network have registered to support young people. Of these, 60 percent are women. Interested research staff still have the opportunity to participate in this edition.
Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka will be 14 years old with this year’s edition. Since 2013, more than 9,000 young people have participated, and more than 2,500 research and technology projects have been presented in total. In the last edition held in Bilbao in 2025, more than 640 young people with 160 projects participated, and there were also international participants.
Both the winners in the previous edition and this year will have the opportunity to visit some international fairs and will also be able to visit the research centers of the Basque Country to get close to professional researchers.
