The 27th season of TEKNOPOLIS begins this weekend
- The program will have a new section titled “Myth or Science?” this season, in which it will analyze whether behind myths and beliefs there is scientific evidence or not.
- It will be issued on Saturdays at 13.30 in ETB1 and on Sundays at 12.30 in ETB2.
This morning the 27th season of the Teknopolis programme, which addresses issues of science, technology and innovation, was presented at the Euskal Herria Hall in Tknika in Errenteria. Unai Iparragirre Torres, director of audiovisual content at ETB, Iñigo Araiztegui Arraiz, director of the Department of Internationalization at Tknika, Garazi Andonegi Beristain, coordinator of the Elhuyar Science Unit, and representatives of the sponsoring entities of the programme have been present there. Specifically, this weekend starts the new season with the following schedule: Saturdays at 13.30 in ETB1 and Sundays at 12.30 in ETB2.
This program, which has been dealing with scientific topics for 25 years, is still curious about the world in which we live and, with the help of experts from all areas of Euskal Herria, aims to address issues of concern to society. What will the next pandemic be? Were Neanderthals human beings? Can obesity be cured? Why should we protect the bear? What will the end of the world look like? Interesting questions will be asked and even more interesting answers will be offered, as the rigor of research does not detract from the emotion of science.
This season, moreover, Teknopolis invites us to reflect on myths and beliefs. Every week, the new “Myth or Science?” section will clarify a belief that has to do with the agenda item. Does it have a scientific basis or, on the contrary, is it a mere belief? The aim of this section is to refute the false beliefs that spread easily on the street and on the net in this era of fake news and misinformation and, on the contrary, to confirm the information in those cases where there is scientific evidence about it.
In this new season, which starts on September 28, Iñaki Leturia Yurrita will be the host again, while Alaitz Ochoa of Eribe Agirre and Nagore Rementeria Argote will take the lead.
Elhuyar produces Teknopolis, a science, technology and innovation program. Both are two of the great references of science and technology in the Basque Country. From the very beginning, Elhuyar's main goal has been to build community, something that the program also pursues. In addition to being the showcase of science in Euskal Herria, it works on the promotion of critical thinking among citizens. But this work is not carried out by Elhuyar alone, but is supported by an entire community: sponsors, researchers, disseminators and citizens interested in scientific content.
Likewise, it is necessary to highlight the long collaboration between Elhuyar and EITB Media, as well as that of all sponsoring and collaborating entities: Basque Government, University of the Basque Country, Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Tknika Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Vocational Training and BRTA, the Basque Alliance for R & D.
